Trainee Solicitor and England Netball defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers talks to BBC Radio Bristol Sport as she prepares for the 2018 commonwealth games

When England announced their netball squad this month for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia, we were delighted that Mogers Drewett trainee solicitor Eboni Beckford-Chambers had been selected for the team.

As she prepares for her 3rd commonwealth games, she talked to BBC Radio Bristol Sport about how the team is getting ready, the rise of netball’s popularity and how Mogers Drewett has supported her netball career.

On being picked for the commonwealth team, Eboni says: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected.  Just getting to know that I’ll be wearing the red dress out on the Gold Coast has been a massive achievement for me, my family, friends and supporters so I’m so, so pleased.”

But now she explains that her focus is firmly on the competition: “I’m just looking forward to getting there, getting going. It’s a group of girls who are relatively experienced, we have played together before.  But it’s going to be great to see what we can produce. I know it’s going to be a real team performance if we’re going to win that gold medal.”

She goes on to discuss how she balances her job as a trainee solicitor here at Mogers Drewett and how the firm provides support: “I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support they have given me. Yes, I will be taking holiday in order to attend the games. But I go very much with their support.  It’s great to have an employer who is able to recognise not only my talent in my legal career but also on the netball court and want to be able to accommodate and make sure that I can be included and do both.”
