Led by Partners Frank Collins and Tracy Neal, our growing team has an exciting opportunity for two Senior Paralegals to join us in our Wells or Sherborne offices. This is a chance to join a highly motivated and supportive team in order to progress your legal career.
Our Agriculture & Rural Team has a varied client base of land owning clients, tenant farmers and agricultural businesses across the south-west and beyond. Our team advises on a broad spectrum of issues such as:-
- Sales and purchases of land, farms and estates
- Sale and purchase of equestrian properties
- Landlord and Tenant; advising on AHA and FBT tenancies
- Succession planning
- Partnership and farming business structures
- Rights of way
- Nutrient credit agreements
- Section 106 agreements
- Renewables
- Overage, pre-emption and option agreements
About the Role
Both positions are full time roles with your typical working day being 9 – 5.30. We are flexible as to the times you work and whether you wish to work from home for part of your week or in the office.
You will be working closely with our Partners, solicitors, paralegals and trainees within the Agriculture & Rural Team providing transactional support and advice to clients. Furthermore, you will be responsible for running your own case load, under supervision. You will be working on a variety of transactional and advisory matters varying in scale and complexity.
You will primarily be responsible for:-
- Meeting with clients
- Drafting and negotiating legal documents
- First registrations
- Preparing auction information packs and advising on them
- Secured and unsecured lending
- Marketing activities
- Ad hoc paralegal/admin duties
You will receive hands on experience and tailored learning opportunities to enable you to grow in your role whether through internal training, SQE, training contract or working towards becoming a conveyancing practitioner with CILEx.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a skilled, motivated and performance driven Paralegal.
The role would ideally suit a candidate who holds a law degree or such other degree / solicitor apprentice / SQE1 / SQE2 / ACILEx or MCILEx or a candidate working towards a career in law who wants to work within the specialist area of agricultural law. You must have an interest in agriculture and preferably worked in a previous property related role.
You must:-
- Have excellent time management skills

- Have an ability to build strong long-lasting relationships with rural clients
