Employment Solicitor | Mogers Drewett
Location: Bath, Sherborne or Wells (Hybrid)
The Firm
At Mogers Drewett, we believe good legal advice should work in the real world, not just in theory. We combine technical expertise with a practical understanding of people, organizations, and commercial reality. It’s an approach that shapes how we advise clients and how we develop our people.
The Team
Our Employment team is intentionally structured to close the gap between black letter law and the commercial realities of the businesses and individuals we advise.
Employment solicitors and HR consultants work as one team, led by Managing Partner Sean McDonough. Day to day, the team works together closely on cases and projects whilst also supporting colleagues in Corporate & Commercial, giving you exposure to the legal, commercial and people dimensions of the strategic legal input which our clients have come to expect from the team.
We test legal advice against commercial reality before it goes out the door, helping clients find solutions that work in practice, not just on paper.
The Work
You’ll support established regional businesses, growth companies, senior executives and directors through the people challenges that sit behind business success.
The work spans both contentious and non-contentious matters and includes restructures, TUPE, workplace disputes, executive exits, business protection issues and strategic employment advice.
Because the team is lean, you’ll have direct client relationships, genuine responsibility and the opportunity to exercise judgement from an early stage. You will also be invited to contribute to the future strategic direction of the team, whilst making full use of the firm’s comprehensive programme of marketing and business development activities.
How We Work
We offer hybrid working and trust people to exercise good judgement about where they work best.
For this role, however, we believe there is significant value in working alongside colleagues. You’ll spend much of your time in Bath, working closely with Sean McDonough and colleagues across Employment, Corporate & Commercial and beyond. The learning opportunities that come from proximity, observation and conversation are difficult to replicate remotely, particularly in the earlier stages of a career.
There is flexibility to work from home and from our other offices, but we see office time as an investment in development rather than a requirement to be monitored.
About You
You’re an Employment Solicitor who values clarity over jargon and practical, commercially focussed outcomes, over technical perfection for the sake of it.
You’ll be interested in how organisations work, how people make decisions and how businesses and individuals navigate change. You enjoy variety, are comfortable taking ownership and are happy collaborating with colleagues from different professional backgrounds.
Most of all, you’ll be curious. Curious about clients, curious about business and curious enough to keep learning.
If you’re looking for high-quality work, close collaboration and the opportunity to help clients solve real-world problems, we’d love to hear from you.
If you are looking to join our team, we would love to hear from you. To apply, please submit your CV using the form on this page.
