Mogers Drewett is a leading South West law firm. Our Finance team plays an important part in helping the firm deliver a great service to our clients, providing practical and reliable support while maintaining the financial controls expected of a law firm.
As we continue to develop our Finance team, we are seeking a Legal Cashier/Finance Assistant to join us in Sherborne.
The Role
You will play a key role in the day-to-day financial activity of the firm, including:
- Processing banking transactions, payments and money received
- Supporting conveyancing completions
- Managing client and office account transactions and reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and client balances
- Supporting month-end processes and reporting
- Working with colleagues across the firm to resolve queries and keep financial matters moving
Accuracy is important, particularly when dealing with client money, but so is good service. We want to make it as straightforward as possible for colleagues and clients to get what they need from Finance, while maintaining the controls that protect them and the firm.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate and comfortable working in a busy transactional environment. You will ideally have:
- Experience in a finance or cashiering role within a legal or professional services environment
- Experience of conveyancing completions and related financial transactions would be useful
- Familiarity with legal finance systems and processes
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A practical, responsive and service-focused approach
- The confidence to ask questions when something does not look right and to clarify or escalate where appropriate
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about legal accounting, but you will need to be willing and able to learn and apply the requirements that come with handling client money in a law firm.
