Local solicitors raise £25k for RUH Cancer Centre

Mogers Drewett Solicitors has become a Senior Corporate Partner of The Forever Friends Appeal Cancer Care Campaign having raised an incredible £25k. Mogers Drewett joins an exclusive group as the second Senior Corporate Partner in support of the new Cancer Centre at the Royal United Hospital. To celebrate its achievement Mogers Drewett will receive a room naming opportunity within the new Cancer Centre, a lasting acknowledgement of its support. Tim Hobbs met with the Mogers Drewett team in February 2016 to present them with the Senior Corporate Partner plaque.

Head of Fundraising for The Forever Friends Appeal, Tim Hobbs, comments: “Mogers Drewett has been an incredible supporter of The Forever Friends Appeal for over a decade. Their recent achievement of raising £25k for the new Cancer Centre will make a truly significant difference to the lives of our cancer patients at the RUH. We would therefore like to say a heartfelt thank you to Steve, Louise and the whole Mogers Drewett team for their passion for our cause and we are thrilled to welcome the company on board as Senior Corporate Partners.”

Mogers Drewett is proud to have its roots in the South West with offices across the region in Frome, Wells, Bath and Sherborne. The Company has a rich history of serving the community, not only through its legal expertise but through its commitment to supporting local charities. Mogers Drewett has been longstanding supporters of The Forever Friends Appeal and the Royal United Hospital for fifteen years since 2000. It has been involved with several fundraising campaigns including the ‘Space to Grow’ campaign for the new Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care. Each year the Mogers Drewett team has been involved with the Bath Half Marathon, Ted’s Big Day Out, as well as creating various other fundraising initiatives.

Mogers Drewett began its fundraising for the Cancer Care Campaign in 2012 and came on board as the headline sponsor for Ted’s Big Day Out, and has continued this sponsorship to include Ted’s Big Bake Off launched in 2015. As part of its sponsorship Mogers Drewett has helped organise a regional school’s competition, donating prizes and visiting schools. This not only helps raise more awareness and funds for The Forever Friends Appeal, but presents creative opportunities for children to learn more about their local hospital. This dedication from Mogers Drewett to reach out, support and educate within the local community has led to their nomination for Bath’s Chairman Community Award 2016 for the Business in Community Award.

Mogers Drewett has received incredible support throughout fundraising from their staff getting involved with events. Teams have taken to the streets of Bath in the annual Bath Half Marathon, pushing their personal limits in aid of their local hospital. Staff have been dressing down, baking treats and bringing their teds into work for Ted’s Big Day Out. In 2014 a team of 11 literally walked on fire, taking part in the Firewalk challenge and traversing barefoot over 1000°F hot coals!

Mogers Drewett Managing Partner Steve Treharne comments: “Over the last few years we have been proud to support this very important charity by raising vital funds and awareness in the local community. We are firm believers in the importance of businesses giving back to the communities in which they operate and the RUH Forever Friends Appeal has been an excellent vehicle for us to do just that. I would urge other local businesses to consider doing the same. We are very grateful to receive this plaque in recognition of our Corporate Partner status and I would like to thank every member of the Mogers Drewett team who have contributed to the fundraising efforts and are the ones who deserve the praise.
